PurrVen — Est. 2016, San Francisco
Nine years, six animal families, ONE promise.
We started with one dog, one bad harness, and a suspicion that pet care shouldn't be this complicated. Everything we've built since is that same promise, just with a much bigger shelf.

Vet-reviewed catalog

PurrVen exists because good pet care shouldn't be complicated, overpriced, or an afterthought. We build the shop the way a vet, a groomer, and a very opinionated rescue dog would build it together.

The spark
Founder Mia Alvarez adopts Miso, a nervous rescue mutt who chews through three cheap harnesses in a month. The search for something durable, comfortable, and not overpriced turns into a side project on her kitchen table.
First storefront
PurrVen opens its first shop in San Francisco — one room, hand-picked dog and cat gear, and a standing offer: bring your pet in, we'll fit the harness ourselves before you buy it.
Beyond dogs and cats
Customers keep asking for help with birds, fish, reptiles, and small animals. Instead of turning people away, we spend a year building sourcing relationships across all six animal families.
The besties club
We formalize the community that had already formed around the shop: a loyalty program, a discount for rescue partners, and a Saturday "meet the misfits" adoption event that's still running today.
Today
Six animal families, one standard: every product is tested, vetted, or personally used by our team before it earns shelf space. Same promise as 2016, just a much bigger shelf.
What we
won't compromise on
Three rules that haven't changed since the kitchen-table days.
01 — Standard
Vet-reviewed, always
Every product line is checked against current veterinary guidance before it earns shelf space — not just a supplier's marketing copy.
02 — Sourcing
Sourced with a conscience
We work directly with manufacturers who can show us their materials and labor practices. If they can't, we don't carry them.
03 — Community
Built by besties
Our community isn't a mailing list. It's rescue partners, local shelters, and customers who show up on Saturdays because they want to.

"Miso's been gone a few years now, but every harness we sell still gets tested the way his did — on a dog who'd absolutely let us know if it didn't work."
— Seif Yousuf, Founder
